Hi, I'm Ethan.

I’m running for the Cairns Youth Council because I care about our city, and I care about the young people who live here.I’m currently a Year 9 student and I love Cairns. This place is home. But I know we can do better when it comes to giving youth a voice - your voice.In a recent Cairns Council survey:
• 59% of young people said they want more youth events.
• 66% said one of the biggest issues for youth is crime.That’s a clear message.And they’re right. Youth crime has been rising in Cairns. But here’s the thing, it’s not just about crime, it’s about why it’s happening. Too many young people are bored, disconnected, or out at night with nowhere positive to go.So what can we do about it?
If you vote 1 Ethan, I’ll campaign to bring free, well-promoted evening events to Cairns that actually interest us. Things like:Music Festivals | Sports tournaments | Chill zones with food trucks + music + games | Outdoor movies | Arts events | ConcertsThese kinds of events not only give young people something fun and safe to do, they also help reduce youth crime. It’s already working in other places like Sydney, and even Mt Isa. Global organisations recommend it. Why not here?Let’s not wait for change - let’s make it happen. Let’s build a Cairns where young people feel heard and supported.Vote 1 Ethan.
